ENHANCING FAITH THROUGH SPORT

MACEY AND ALANNA WALKER LOOK OUT !!

Our Year 1 students went to the Hockey Fields this week to get out and active and learn the sport of hockey. The students were treated with Macey and Alanna Walker (Year 6) who attended to support the Year 1 students in learning to push, trap and hit the ball. I believe there were many students trying to emulate Macey and Alanna on the Hockey Fields. 

LETS GO JAI

We wish Jai Davis (Year 4 Green) and his family the very best at the National Athletics Championships (Shot Put) in Tasmania late next week. It has been an amazing effort to reach the Everest of pathway sport, and when you consider Jai was throwing 8m at our school carnival, to now throwing over 11m, it is amazing! Jai’s family have many divot holes in their backyard from his relentless efforts to get better at shot put, and I’m sure top dressing of their lawn will happen in the coming weeks. Our school is very blessed to have many families who go above and beyond in many aspects of our school community. This has certainly been the case for Jai as Mr Justin Power, who was a university shot putter, has taken Jai under his wings and had countless sessions at school, after school and the weekends to ensure Jai is throwing at his best. Thank you Mr Power, and go Jai.

SPORTING SCHOOLS KICKS OFF

This week we had Basketball move into week two of four sessions for our Kindy and Year 2 students. Year 1 students kicked off Hockey.

SPORTING ROYALTY VISITING THE MIGHTY ST PETER'S

I received confirmation this week that the legendary swimmer and ex St Peter’s student Mr Marc Stone will be attending the NSWPSSA State Representatives special Week 9 Assembly. Marc was an amazing swimmer and made the NSWPSSA State Team for swimming in 1997.  After 27 years, we welcome Marc back home to St Peter’s on Friday December 8, 2023. 

BASKETBALL UPDATE

Unfortunately the Mid North Coast Basketball Gala Day has been cancelled due to lack of schools. Thank you to the 38 students from Year 6 who came and trialled.  

SUMMER SPORTS

We have many Year 4 and 5 students travelling to Lismore throughout next week to compete at the Lismore Diocesan Summer Sports. We wish all the students the very best and we can’t wait to hear about their experience. Families, please feel free to post images and updates on our St Peter’s Sports Facebook page. CELEBRATING SPORTING ELITE

FRIDAY 8TH DECEMBER

At our Week 9 school assembly commencing at 2.00pm, we will be celebrating our NSW State representatives. In our 30 year history, we have 7 NSW State Representatives who have gone onto a National Sporting Carnival. The following names have climbed everest in the sporting realm and we will be celebrating their success- Marc Stone (1997- Swimming), Benjamin Adams (2010 and 2011- Swimming), Isaac Post (2011- Diving), Samuel Edmonds (2013- Athletics), Brianne Gee (2013- Basketball), Macey Walker (2023- Hockey) and Jai Davis (2023- Athletics). This will no doubt be a very emotional day, and we encourage all families to come and witness this one off, chance of a lifetime opportunity to be in the same room with sporting royalty as their sporting history is celebrated.
