DANCE SPECTACULAR 2022 - GOING SOLO, OH YEAH YOLO!

Over a thousand people attended Monday and Tuesday nights’ performances at the Glasshouse of ‘Going Solo, Oh Yeah YOLO’. There was definitely a pre-Covid feel in the house, with great excitement both back stage and in the audience. We were delighted to have Angus Hawkes come along on Tuesday night, with Year 5 finishing the evening with a very robust performance of Happy Birthday to Angus for Sunday.

Both nights were outstanding successes where children, staff and the Glasshouse team worked very cohesively and with great energy and spirit to entertain very engaged and appreciative crowds.

I would like to extend very sincere thanks to:

  • Mrs Julie-Anne and Miss Eliza, our outstanding dance instructors.
  • Mrs Michelle Baird, School Dance Manager and Coordinator.
  • Mrs Natalie Jennings, Mrs Natalie Stewart, Ms Natalie McKenzie, Miss Holly Swadling, Miss Ashleigh Fowler, Mrs Rachael Cullen, Mrs Kathy Gilmour, Mrs Kylie Kipreotis, Miss Karen Robson- Dance Eisteddfod team facilitators.
  • Mrs Christine Hickson, Mrs Annette Grant, Ms Tracey Kirkman and Mrs Tamie Walker - outstanding work in promotion and smooth running of the administration.
  • St Peter’s Staff – wonderful generosity in time and energy and support of our little people.
  • Parents and carers – for the great support you provide your children in preparation and costuming and being a wonderful audience on both nights.
  • Anne Johnston - for her 'amazing' photography (sneak peak of some below)
  • OUR LITTLE PEOPLE - Will let the pictures do the talking!

Please read this short reflection from Mrs Baird

I am completely in awe, and super proud of all the wonderful students in our school! Nine weeks of 30 minute dance lessons culminated in the amazing performances that our students presented to you on Monday and Tuesday evenings. I am very aware that for some students, performing on stage is quite a difficult thing to do. It certainly takes a whole lot of courage and I am very grateful to everyone who overcame their fear or nerves and gave it a go. Every student in our school participated and the energy behind the scenes and on stage was electric. The excitement and sense of achievement is to be celebrated and congratulated.

Miss Julie- Anne our dance teacher is extremely talented and incredible. Every year, Julie-Anne choreographs 20 different class dances and 5 eisteddfod groups. She has such an amazing relationship with the students in our school and is able to break down the individual moves into child friendly language with humour and excitement.

Once again thank you for coming along to support the St Peter’s Dance Concert. Students are already asking what the songs will be next year…..

CONCERT BAND PERFORMANCE

2022_1_.jpg

Thank you to the St Peter's Concert Band for their magnificent opening performances each evening. A huge thank you to our Band teachers from BluGum Frank Ruger, Ann Hamilton and Bec Eakin, for preparing the children so well in the weeks leading up to the concert.

DANCE EISTEDDFOD

Five Dance Eisteddfod teams from St Peter’s represented the school very proudly on Thursday night at the Port Macquarie Dance Eisteddfod. Each of the teams has placed long and very committed hours into finely polished performances, and after a massive week of dancing and netball, did us very proud. Congratulations to all and, again, thank you to all the teachers involved in supporting these teams. See further in the newsletter for our amazing results!

MISSION

OUR CONTINUING PRAYERS FOR HARRISON

Blake_Harrison_Anthony_Egan.JPG

We have had some positive news from Harrison's family, with him making some pleasing progress in his recovery. We continue to ask our community to join in praying for Harrison and his family as he continues his medical treatment in Sydney.

Loving Father

Lord of healing and compassion

We pray for Harrison’s recovery.

Let your power of healing shine onto this little one,

so that he is free of pain and sickness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Amen

St_Francis_of_Assisi_Chapel_1991.jpg

This week, Year 4 Green attended Mass accompanied by Mrs Tink, Mrs Geary and Mrs Thomas. Lennex Arkinstall did a wonderful job reading and the whole class represented St Peter’s with reverence and respect.

A PRAYER FOR THE HOLIDAYS

We thank you Lord, for this term.

For the challenges, the successes,

and the mistakes from which we have learnt.

Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right;

to be witnesses of our faith.

Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays,

to appreciate what others do for us,

to give time and effort to help others,

to be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities;

give us good rest and good fun.

Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.

We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents

and a community that cares for us.

May we always be conscious of you in our lives.

Amen
