Max and 'Gold Riley' shoot a TV Commercial
Recently, Max Choi (Year 6 Blue) met Riley Batt (OAM), who is an Australian Wheelchair Rugby player, and has won two gold and a silver medal at four Paralympic Games. Max and Riley came together to shoot a TV commercial for Woolworths, where he had lunch with Riley at his house and even went to Riley’s gym! Over the coming weeks, keep an eye out for Max and Riley on the television screen. Max, you are a superstar!
Updates from NSWCPS Sport
In line with the Premier’s announcement regarding the extension of COVID-19 restrictions for Greater Sydney, CSNSW Sport has cancelled the following events:
NSWCPS Rugby 10 A Side Knockout Finals | 16 August @ Hunters Hill |
NSWCPS Netball Carnivals | Tuesday, 31 August & 7 September @ Penrith |
CPS Basketball Challenge | 23 & 24 October |
CSNSW Sport will organise refunds for the schools who have paid team registrations.
Once COVID-19 restrictions are decided (until the end of August 28) for the Lismore Diocese there will be decisions made regarding Diocesan sporting events.
Primary events, Polding athletics (10th September in Newcastle) have not been postponed as yet as well as Polding cricket (20th August in Lismore).
With the current COVID-19 restrictions for Greater Sydney, we are conscious that these events require travel for a number of families and staff therefore, wish to provide as much notice as possible.
We hope to confirm further Term 3 postponements in the next few days.
CSNSW Sport will investigate dates and venues with a view to running the girls rugby league event later in the year and will provide regular updates for students, families, staff and schools.
Sports coordinators, parents, team officials and the convenor will be informed by notification this afternoon. The CSNSW Sport portal will be updated and posts will be released on our social media channels.
We keep planning and getting active
Although sport is in a holding pattern currently, we continue to train and trial in readiness for sport to reopen. This week, we had the following sports getting out and active:
Soccer | Trialling for Paul Wilson Cup with Mr Murtagh |
Union | Trialling for the MNC Rugby Union with Mr Post |
League | Training for the Northern qualifying Final with Mr Leary |
Netball | Trialling for the Netball Knockout Day with Miss McKenzie and Miss Dal Santo |
Athletics | Training for the 100M, Relay and Long Jump |
The above sports will continue training and trailing next week at the same days and times as this week.
Around the Grounds
A number of St Peter’s students were out and active last weekend in a big game of Rugby League. Instead of being on the same side, the Breakers played the Sharks in the local derby where a number of students played against each other! A big thanks to Mr Leary for heading down to the game and supporting the teams. The image is of Rocky Mann, Tobias Rowlatt, Ryder Colthorpe and Oliver Laundry in action.
