BOOK PARADE
It was marvelous to have our ‘finally here’ Book Week Parade this week with all the children and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters. A huge thank you to Mrs Fran Cullen who did a marvellous job organising our day. Thanks to all the families and friends who come to join us on the day. It was good to have your company.

PARENT PIT-STOP: Bullying – supporting victims and perpetrators
Mr Leary and Mrs Cameron conducted a parent Pit-Stop on Thursday morning at 8.00am. Our parents were keen to understand the school’s processes when reports of bullying occurred. They also wanted to know how to support their own children if they became victims of bullying or engaged in bullying themselves. Mr Leary and Mrs Cameron related their knowledge and experiences to help parents understand the way bullying incidences were managed at school and provided ideas on how families could support at home.
The link below presents a summary of the Pit-Stop presentation.
Summary of Pit-Stop Presentation
MUSIC AND DRAMA EVENING
Congratulations to Ann Hamilton, Frank Rugers and Lisa Gilchrist who trained and prepared our children for Thursday Evenings Music and Drama performances. We feel blessed to have these three share their gifts and talents with our children and it was wonderful to see the kids blossom as they showcased their CAPA skills. It was wonderful to see so many of our families also.
A snippett from the evening...
WILDFIRE
Thank you to Mrs Cameron for persevering with organising WILDFIRE to come and perform for us. Third times a treat! It was certainly worth the wait. Pictures and details below in Mission.
PROPOSED CHANGES TO P & F STRUCTURE
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lismore are committed to fostering partnership between the parish, school and family. A Parent Representative Body is endorsed by the Diocese and maintained in each diocesan school in order to offer an opportunity for families, school staff and clergy to gather, explore, discuss, imagine, implement, support, encourage and journey together as we work in community for the benefit of our children.
In time, schools will adopt one of two approved models of parent representation in consultation with their community.
Option One: School Community Forum Overview
This is a formal, traditional model for parent representative bodies in schools. The School Community Forum (SCF) will be governed by the new School Community Forum Constitution which will provide direction on how to facilitate the effective running of the School Community Forum. In essence, it operates in a similar manner to the previous Parish School Forum with some notable differences primarily the inclusion of a parish representative and a change from closed meetings to meetings open to all parents and carers.
Option Two: School Community Group Overview
This is a new option for schools where the traditional models of parent representation are not regarded by the school community as a viable option. Some schools may choose to adopt the School Community Group (SCG) rather than have a constituted Forum or P & F. This may be because the formation or continuation of a P & F has been problematic, or the school community would prefer to adopt a model that does not include the election of a full Executive team from its membership.

WILDFIRE EXPERIENCE !
What an experience Wildfire was on Wednesday and Thursday! Our school came together in joyful worship for a truly goosebump experience! Check out these photos from the two days:

HELP US LIGHT UP EMMAUS FOR CHRISTMAS !
The staff at Emmaus are seeking donations (or if anyone wants to lend) Christmas lights, inflatable or outdoor decorations which we can put up outside around Emmaus. This is so all the residents can share the joy of going on a light tour at Christmas, especially for those who are not able to go on the bus light tour around Port Macquarie.
Please drop the lights off at Emmaus reception (16 Colonel Barney Drive, Port Macquarie) between now and mid-December. We are looking mostly for solar lights as there is not enough outdoor power to support heaps of plug in lights and need to be conscious of fire safety compliance. Your kind support will be much appreciated by everyone at Emmaus.
YEAR LEVEL PARENT REPS FOR 2023

FINAL EXTRAORDINARY PIT STOP FOR 2022
A big thanks to Mr Leary and Mrs Cameron for presenting at the Parent Pit Stop on Thursday. Families were involved in discussions around how to support both the victim and perpetrator in bullying situations. No slides are available for this session. Looking forward to continuing our Parent Pit stops in 2023. Please feel free to email any suggestions for topics to amanda.thomas@lism.catholic.edu.au.
LEARNING
HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION
Last Friday, 11th November, most of Year 6 headed over to MacKillop College for their High School Transition day.
Here are some insights from some of our Year 6’s about the day:
Wow! What a day we had at MacKillop! Most of us started off quite nervous but once we had settled in we realised that it wasn’t such a big and scary place.
It was exciting to see our friends from other schools and attend some classes with them. We enjoyed meeting new people from different schools. It was also fantastic to meet some of the teachers.
We did some English, Maths, History and Art lessons. In English, we pulled persuasive language out of picture books and got to write a picture book for younger students. The Maths lesson was actually really handy, it was all on the Cartesian Plane and how to plot coordinates. We knew how to do this because we’ve recently done this in our Year 6 Maths lessons. In History, we investigated the Tollund Man who is a naturally mummified corpse of a man. Some of us got to visit the senior campus where we had an enjoyable art lesson. The most exciting part was seeing what the current Year 7’s have created throughout the year in Visual Arts.
Even though we will miss St Peter’s and all the teachers here, we are looking forward to having more adventures and experiences at MacKillop next year!

Christmas is fast approaching, and it is once again time for our parish schools to support the St Agnes’ Parish Christmas Appeal. Our fundraising day will be held on Friday 25th November. Students are invited to wear Christmas colours on this day and bring along a monetary donation.
Donations are used to purchase items and vouchers from local businesses to create Christmas Hampers for local families in need or experiencing a difficult time. St Peter’s families are invited to contribute to the Christmas Appeal by making a monetary donation of as little or as much as they can afford. All donations, no matter how small, contribute to making someone’s Christmas wonderful! We know and appreciate how generous our St Peter’s community is, and we thank you sincerely for your support.

HOOPS GALORE !
A really big day of basketball was held on Thursday at the Mid North Coast Primary Basketball Day. We had 4 teams competing at the event with 36 students attending. Our 2 Year 3-4 teams did really well. Our Peter’s Green Team were undefeated and won the day for Years 3-4 Boys. Our other Year 3-4 boys team only lost one game and narrowly missed the Grand Final. Our Year 5-6 boys team lost the Grand Final in a very close game by 2 points. A massive thank you to Mrs Romer for her outstanding coaching. Our Year 6 Girls team were just awesome and were also undefeated and won their grand Final by over 20 points! Thank you to our superstar coaches - Macca, Miss Murtagh, Mrs Romer and Miss Dal Santo on their awesome support of the teams.
Thank you also to the huge amount of families who supported the day, it was awesome to see you.

AFTER 3 YEARS, WE DID IT
It has been a long three years with COVID hurting sporting events across Australia and the world. However, 2022 has been a breath of fresh air, as we have got through the year without having any sport cancelled or postponed as well as having our families back at sport. It has been great to get our kids out and active for so many reasons. We look forward to 2023 and another amazing year of sport at the mighty St Peter’s.
