Love CameLove came, held safely within a gentle womb All the truth, majesty, and creativity of a living God Poured into a tiny heart Making a quiet entrance in a dark and uninviting shack Just one star shone anew as a handful of people were brought Led by angelic voices, and open hearts A young mother A faith-filled father Men of wisdom who searched for truth And a group of humble herdsmen They came to bow before a new life And acknowledge that the rescuer had arrived That the Word of God had come alive And that the extraordinary transformation of heaven and earth Had begun |
WARMEST THANKS AND BEST WISHES FOR THE FESTIVE
I would like to take this opportunity again, to offer our warmest thanks to staff and families for a wonderful conclusion to 2021.
We have paid tribute to staff, students and families leaving this year, staff, students and families arriving in 2022 and for the admirable way our staff, students and families have managed to navigate through a complex year in great spirit and outstanding support for each other.
We say farewell to the following children and their family leaving St Peter's:
Pixie Hockley, Parsha Looby, Ivy McGuigan, Ruby Rule, Annabel Shields, Chloe Shields, Harrison Price and Rocky Zumbo
Our community hopes that your spirit and support is rewarded through a rich celebration of the birth of Jesus and of the coming of the New Year.
Please continue to look out for others who may not experience the joy and connection that many of us delight in over the festive season and let the inspiring example of Jesus continue to guide our thoughts and actions during this treasured time.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
WE WISH THE FOLLOWING STAFF THE BEST FOR NEW DIRECTIONS IN 2022
Our community shares our sincere thanks and fondest farewell to the following staff members for 2022:
Mrs Maree Bennie - who has taken leave and is moving to Yamba for the start of next year. Maree has had a very distinguished professional career at St Peter’s and has been a wonderful advocate and support particularly in the earlier years of children’s learning. She has held a number of leadership positions throughout and has been a very valued member of staff.
Mrs Di Doyle - Di has taught within our community for 21 years and has been an outstanding class teacher and in particular, intervention specialist. The school has been blessed through her dedication and expertise and so many children have benefited from Di’s passion and dedication. We hope to see a lot more of Di through 2022.
Mrs Sharni Geary - Sharni has taught in our context for the last four years. Sharni came with a rich history in working with children with autism and has been a wonderful teacher and source of expertise in understanding children with particular needs and providing the best possible support. She has been recognised in this area and will embrace a new position at St Agnes’ Primary.
Mrs Cathy Stevenson - Cathy arrived in 2013 as the Leader of Catechesis. She has since held a number of senior leadership positions and supporting roles within all classrooms. St Peter’s will miss Cath and her determination to provide the best possible environment for children to learn in a safe yet challenging context. We may see a little of Cath next year and we look very forward to that opportunity.
Mrs Debbie Robins - Deb has baked, boiled, barbecued, and served a multitude of canteen cuisine for the last 21 years. She takes a break next year to dedicate her time to grandchildren and family. We hope and pray that Deb has a wonderful year away and reflects back on her career at St Peter’s with great joy and a wonderful sense of achievement.
Mrs Liz Hinton - Liz has been a Learning Assistant for the past six years. She has been an outstanding support in classrooms and conducting small group specialised learning. We wish Liz all the best and we hope she leaves St Peter's knowing she has contributed significantly to so many children’s well-being and learning. She has been an outstanding team member on staff offering great expertise and insight.
Mrs Rachel Somers - Rachel will take term one off for the beginning of next year. Rachel has been a very valued Learning Assistant, Who has worked in a number of grades supporting intervention and the well-being of our children. We hope Rachel has a productive time off and also reflects on the significant contribution she has made at St Peter’s.
New staff were introduced in last week’s Newsletter and we will provide a photograph and background information at the beginning of next year.
TINY CUBBIES COMPLETE
Our Year 6 and 3 companions have finished the first two Tiny Cubbies.
The new homes will sit cosily on the infant's top play space.
Next year we will continue to build tiny cubbies, each individually decorated by our students and provided to families at cost price.
Sorry they were not available for Christmas – perhaps next year.

As you may have read in last week's newsletter, I am taking leave for the 2022 school year. Kathie Bailey will do a wonderful job as Canteen Manager next year and I know that she will value the ongoing support of volunteers. I would just like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who has volunteered over the 21 years that I have been managing the canteen at St Peter's. Without the support of the hundreds of volunteers who have helped me with carnivals, BBQs, special events such as Maytime Markets and the day to day operations of the canteen, these things would not function smoothly. I value the friendships that have arisen as a result of your wonderful volunteering. I sincerely thank each and everyone of you and wish you all a Merry Christmas. Deb |
